Afghanistan

Year 2026

27 years ago, in March 1997, I worked with Tajik orphans in Kunduz, Afghanistan, where our foundation supported 298 refugee orphans displaced by the Tajik civil war. On my return, I was imprisoned in Mazar Sharif by Abdul Rashid Dostum’s militia and accused of being linked to the Taliban or ISI simply for being Pakistani. After intense interrogations, Allah (SWT) helped me prove I was there only to serve orphaned children. The Nakhla Orphan Program in Afghanistan carries deep personal roots for me. Serving these children was an honor then, and it remains an honor today. When I ask you to support Nakhla, please remember this journey.
